Crossing the Jordan

Amy Ehlen-Brekke

I am a mother of 5 amazing children. Married for 18 years (as of 2020). My husband and I lead a marriage small group at our awesome church. I love all things Marvel (MCU), the beach, art and nature. I own an art studio in Charleston, SC and I love Jesus & coffee!

For as long as I remember, I have had a deep love and appreciation for writing. I remember as a little girl, before I even knew how to write, scribbling on any scrap of paper I could find and asking my great grandfather to tell me which one of my scribbles was actually a word. When I was a teenager I was passionate about reading and writing poetry. My mom would often find me asleep with pen still in hand and nice little doodles on my sheets. Now that I am older, (hopefully wiser) I would like all of these words that spill out of me to count for something.

My belief in Jesus Christ has influenced every area of my life and I am yielding to His call to write for Him. So with pen in hand (or keyboard under fingertips), I desire to be led of God to bring clarity and comfort to those who would take a moment to read.

I should preface that many of the things I write about are birthed from a place that is deeply personal to me and relates to something that I have gone through or still circle around to now and again. I am on a journey just the same as many of you, and I do not claim to have all of the answers. I promise to do my best to always point to the Lord who is the one through whom we all have freedom and purpose. I called this section “Crossing the Jordan,” because I feel that for 40 years I have walked through the wilderness quite a bit. Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt and with Moses faith the Red Sea was parted for them and they crossed. But when they came to the Jordan, they could not cross until they themselves stepped into the water out of their own faith. I have come to the Jordan and now I am stepping out in faith. Stepping into the waters with the Lord and trusting Him to lead me safely through. Thank you for reading! God bless:)
